INTERNET RESOURCES FOR ALFALFA AND FORAGES

ABSTRACT

There is a large amount of information about alfalfa and forages on the Internet and there is more information being posted daily. In order to find this information, there are several methods that can be used to search. Search engines such as Yahoo, Infoseek, Alta Vista, and Excite do word searches in titles, document meta data, and the entire document. However, the search engine method does not always give desired results for an agriculturist looking for production information. University Forage Web Sites are an excellent source of relevant information and may also contain links to other useful sites. Also, when the PDF format is used for posting a document, it may not be searchable by WWW search engines. This format is common when older documents are scanned electronically and added to web sites.
